What is 3G ? How it works ?
Many of us have heard about 3G, the latest buzz in the mobile world which promises faster access to multimedia and other premium services like broadband on Mobile. But what is 3G and how it works. I thought I should write something for those who are still unaware of this latest technology.
Introduction:
3G or Third generation network is an international standard for wide-area mobile networks that is replacing 2G networks currently in use for mobile communication. The main advantage of 3G networks over older 2G network model is a wider radio spectrum used for transmission of signals to and fro your mobile device resulting in faster data transmission for advanced multimedia services & a higher network capacity.
Applications:
Today’s smart phones offer high-speed web access, video calls, and emailing, messaging, & multimedia services. Users can watch streaming videos on their mobile phones, download & play songs from online stores, keep data on web servers & share files. 3G services offer faster and more efficient ways to do this.

3G was launched globally in December 2005 and is being adopted worldwide gradually. Recently it’s being launched in India by BSNL, a govt owned public sector telecommunication company .Using 3G services require 3G enabled phones which are similar to 2G mobile devices, that uses a SIM card to connect with the service provider.
