In a week of rumors about the upcoming iPhone 6, this new concept has appeared. It’s by Johnny Plaid and it shows what the iPhone 6 would look like if it were truly edge-to-edge. The concept shows an aluminum and carbon fiber uni-body, completely seamless in design. Being manufactured from these materials, it would be around 40% lighter than the current iPhone and 60% stronger, as well as being much slimmer.
It has a Lightning 2 port, and there’s a distinct lack of a home button. The whole of the display area is touch screen and controlled entirely by gestures, with all the normal ones being fully supported. Gestures such as tapping for Home, holding the screen down to activate Siri and double tapping the screen to access the multitasking app, all instead of using the Home button.
In Johnny Plaid’s concept he specifies the specs the iPhone 6 will have, including:
- 4.5” Retina 2 display, edge to edge
- 754 x 1296 resolution at 333dpi
- 2 x 2.8GHz quad core processors, A7
- 4GB RAM
- 8 megapixel front camera, with support for FaceTime, HD at 1080p
- 20.2 megapixel rear camera with a 2K video sensor
- 2800mAh battery
It will be 4.86” in height, 2.31” wide and 0.3” deep and it will weigh just 2.37oz. It will be a speedy handset, coming in at 4 times faster than the current iPhone 5 and around twice as fast as the Samsung Galaxy S4.
The iPhone 6 will be available in a choice of 4 storage sizes according to the concept and the prices will be:
- 32GB $199
- 64GB $299
- 96GB $399
- 128GB $499
